The Carter 16" Magnetic Fence can be used as an adjustable fence or as a table extension. You can use it as an extension at the rear or side of the table. The two top levers are cams which lift the fence off the table for positioning. Just pull the lever back and the fence lowers onto the table and the magnets do their job. This will work best if you keep your table clean so if it is rusty, get out the elbow grease and derust it. Patina is not a problem but rust, paint spills (!!!), varnish spills, lacquer overspray, food, coffee cups, pet dishes, etc. can affect the holding power. The Magfence is meant to be used on magnetic ferrous table surfaces only. There are also t slots on the face of the fence to attach feather boards or stops if you need them.
